The anime Dungeon Meshi (also known internationally as Delicious in Dungeon) surprised many fans in 2024. What initially seemed like an unusual mix of fantasy adventure and cooking show quickly turned out to be a strong anime with humor, emotions, and an exciting story. No wonder many viewers asked right after the finale: When is Season 2 coming?
The good news upfront: a second season has already been confirmed. The less good news: an exact release date is still unknown. Still, there is some exciting information that gives us a pretty good idea of when and how it will continue.
Dungeon Meshi Season 2 Already in Production
Right after the finale of the first season in June 2024, it was officially confirmed that Dungeon Meshi would continue. That’s already a strong sign, as many anime have to wait weeks or months for the green light.
Even better: Season 2 is not just planned – it’s already in production. The animation studio Trigger, which produced the first season, is returning as well. This is important because the style and quality of the animation were a major highlight of the series.
The fact that Trigger is back suggests we can expect a similarly high-quality continuation. At the same time, “in production” also means it will take a while. Anime take time, especially when they are produced with such detail.
It’s also worth noting that the first season adapted only about half of the manga. That means there’s still plenty of story material for at least one more season – probably even enough for a big finale.
When Will Dungeon Meshi Season 2 Be Released?
Now for the most important question: When will Season 2 be released?
No official date has been announced yet. Still, there are some realistic estimates that give us a good idea.

How Will the Story Continue?

The first season of Dungeon Meshi doesn’t really end with a conclusion; it ends more in the middle of the story. The group’s goal – rescuing Laios’ sister Falin – remains central.
Season 2 will pick up exactly here and make the story significantly more intense.
While Season 1 focused heavily on humor, cooking, and exploring the dungeon, things will become more serious now. The group ventures deeper into the dungeon and encounters more dangerous enemies, complex conflicts, and bigger mysteries.
A central point will be the antagonist, the so-called mad magician (Thistle), who is behind many events in the dungeon. His role will become much more important and adds tension and drama.
New characters are also expected to be introduced, including groups like the “Canaries,” which will add extra dynamics to the story.
The storyline around Falin will also be further developed. The question isn’t just whether she can be rescued, but also how. This brings emotional moments and moral decisions into the story.
Another point: the world of Dungeon Meshi will expand. While Season 1 was mostly confined to the dungeon, Season 2 may explore more background, politics, and different factions.
In short:
- more story
- more drama
- more action
- but still the typical Dungeon Meshi humor
And yes – cooking will continue to play a role. After all, that’s the unique twist of the series.

Dungeon Meshi Season 2 Is Coming
Even though there’s still no fixed release date, the future of Dungeon Meshi looks very promising. Season 2 is confirmed, in production, and has more than enough story material to continue the series excitingly.
Currently, everything points to a release in 2026. That may sound like a long wait, but if the quality is right, it will definitely be worth it.
